Bricked-up door at the second floor of building Domhof 7

Originally the upper floors were only accessible by means of wooden stairs on the outside of the buildings. It was only since the 15th century that staircases inside a building came into fashion.

When the building Domhof 8 was added to the gable of the roof of no. 7 the external staircase was removed, the door was closed with bricks and internal staircases were built.
