Treasure of the town council of Zwickau

gilded silver, 15th until 17th century

What we call the treasure of the town council today was formerly used by the councilmen as prestigious commodities. These everyday objects were used on religious holidays and other important events such as welcoming distinguished visitors, council meetings and banquets. Such items expressed the wealth of the city, served as capital reserve and could be sold in times of Need.
